The national Secondary Prevention Alliance will provide a united leadership role in reducing the number of Australians having repeat heart attacks by:
- Increasing awareness of the chronic nature of heart disease and the need for appropriate lifelong management
- Improving the delivery of secondary prevention to all Australians living with heart disease
- Finding innovative solutions to bridge the gap between hospital and primary care
- Achieving implementation through engagement of key decision makers, including Government
The Alliance is also strongly aligned with the World Health Organisation and World Heart Federation’s global priorities of reducing non-communicable diseases (specifically cardiovascular disease) by 25% by 2025.
